Friends by DarkKitsunegirl Friends by DarkKitsunegirl
Recently I've seen a lot of people writing about their opinions on Internet Friendships. I have to say, without the friends I have gained on Deviantart, I would be a much lonelier person than I am now.

I also wanted to play with something simple, just outlines and such, no details. I hope you all enjoy.

This really made myself feel better about Internet Friends. I have this one Internet Friend who I have never met before, but whenever she replies to my long-winded comments with long-winded replies, it always makes me feel special, because they mean.. so much! I really love this, and it's definitely relatable. BLESS YOU FOR MAKING THIS!

I love this and I totally can feels the emotion...I have made so many friends here on DA it helps make my days better. I go bonkers when I see a Message in the inbox. Sometimes I wish we had chat boxes in the corners like on Facebook but then I remember this is DeviantArt ^^;

Physicality is great, and nice, and to try and entirely substitute it with online relationships IS foolish... however... it isn't foolish to balance the offline world and the online world.

I AM one such person who prefers to spend his time online, playing games, and being with his internet comrade's, but, I do like to get out from time to time. I go out and see the horizon of the lakes, the taste of food prepared by hands other then my friends, family, and myself, and see new things in the arrangements of the environment (both in nature and in the cityscape); but never, ever, can anything replace my online friends.

My online friends are my everything, they are the people who with I identify with the most, and whom I identified with first, and that is impossible to replace, and one day, without question, they will BECOME my 'real life' friends, because I choose to put in the effort to make that a reality.

INTERNET FRIENDSHIP FOREVER.

I do have one or two irl friends I see from time to time- but where I live, it's simply not practical for me to be going out all the time to see them, I couldn't afford it. That's one reason they all mean so much to me.

Kinda similar in situation here. I have a couple close friends but I don't typically go out of my way to see them. I see them a couple times every couple of months. I'm usually so damn busy I can't arrange for an adequate get together. It's much easier to sit down with my online groupies and share our daily adventures. I mean, that is to say, between traveling to work and back, I spend 12 hours out of the house and have maybe three or four ours to do anything for myself, let alone DRIVE to someone else's house, only to remain for an hour or two.

I remember reading a science blog that talked about varying degrees of neurodiversity... it was talking about autism, but since I read it, I realize that the phrase fits into a lot of different personality castes. Us individual's who spend more of our time online, rather then outside, are thought to be shut-in's, or somehow unhealthy, when it's really not the case. We're just neurologically diverse. Our preferences don't stem from any underlying disorder, it is merely what both works best for us, and has benefited us more. The concept is as such: It isn't broke, so we don't fix it (it being our online presence and relationships).

Just thought I'd leave that here for any interested parties to consider.

In the face of all the people who constantly imply that online relationships are unhealthy or somehow worth less than ones with people you talk to physically, it is a relief to see that others out there feel the same way I do.

Beautiful piece.
